Day 1

Depart USA / Arrive to Dublin

  • Welcome & On-Site Orientation

  • Historical walking tour of Dublin city centre
  • Dinner with Traditional Irish Music & Dance Show
Day 2

Dublin

  • Guest Lecture in Irish History – Trinity College Dublin
  • Guest Lecture in Irish Politics at Trinity College Dublin
Day 3

Dublin

  • Visit Kilmainham Gaol – this historical prison holds major significance in Irish history
  • Visit EPIC – Irish Emigration Museum
Day 4

Dublin

  • Visit the Trinity Library and the famous Book of Kells
  • Walking Tour of O’Connell Street, Garden of Remembrance and the Hugh Lane Gallery
  • Visit Glasnevin Cemetary – home to the burial ground of many of Ireland’s historical political figures
Day 5

Belfast

  • Coach Transfer to Belfast
  • Check in to housing
  • Orientation and City Tour
  • Visit the Titanic quarter including museum
Day 6

Belfast

  • Guest Lecture at Queen’s University
  • City Tour including Irish Republican History Museum and other major sites
  • Group Dinner including Irish traditional music

Belfast

  • Visit Stormont – the Northern Ireland parliament
  • Guest Lecture at Queen’s University
Day 8

Belfast

  • Workshop with Peace Players – local not for profit focused on peacebuilding through youth sports
  • Workshop with Corrymeela – including a walking tour of East Belfast and a discussion on the peacebuilding and conflict resolution work of this organization
Day 9

Northern Ireland Day Tour

  • Full Day tour including a visit to the Giant’s Causeway and filming locations of Game of Thrones
  • Arrival to Derry
  • Check in to housing
Day 10

Derry

  • Visit the Museum of Free Derry
  • Guest Talk with members of the Bloody Sunday Trust
  • Derry Walking Tour
  • Group Dinner
Day 11

Derry

  • Free time in Derry
  • Research and project work
Day 12

Derry

  • Gaelic language lesson
  • Guest Talk with local independent political candidate
Day 13

Dublin

  • Check out of housing & coach transfer back to Dublin
  • Check into housing in Dublin
  • Free afternoon
  • Group Farewell Dinner
Day 14

Depart Ireland

  • Check out of housing
  • Transfer to Dublin airport for return to USA
  • Housing is in university campus apartments where students have a private bedroom with shared kitchen facilities
  • Faculty members have a bedroom with private bathroom
  • Breakfast is included for the entire program
  • Some group dinners are included
  • Transport is by private coach for longer journeys
  • Public transport is used for shorter journeys
  • Participants will walk a lot so good comfortable shoes are a must!
